Just bought Dolan track bike, want to use it for Manchester Regional Track league....
Anyone know what i need to do to the tires as they are brand new and apparently need to be 'roughed' up a bit before riding on the Manchester boards?

Just rub the shine off them with a flexible sanding block and then clean with white vinegar.
    I’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.
  • Thank you, Will white spirit work instead of the vinegar?

If that's all you've, you'll be okay with it on one-off or very limited use - long term or frequent use of a solvent like white spirit on tyres probably isn't advisable.

  • white spirit won't vaporise like isopropyl alcohol will, and it may leave an oily residue, which as Eddy has alluded to, might damage the rubber or even make you slip.

white vinegar is so easy to get, doesn't smell too good though!
