Shimano Chainline

Anyone know whether on a square tapered 110 BB can I get an acceptable chainline, even a good one, with a non-compact double chainring, say Shimano 600?

    I'm pretty sure the old Shimano chainsets (apart from Dura Ace) are meant to be used with a 110mm JIS taper BB. 8 speed DA needs a 102 or 103mm BB.

    All road doubles are designed for a 46mm chainline (outer) - just make sure you use the right size of BB spindle.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
