Since I can't ride for weeks I plan to build a bike as a project to keep me busy and motivated.
The vanilla 456 are out of stock so is there any difference in the ride on an Inbred? I know the latter can be run as single speed or geared. I plan to run mine with gears.
Secondly as an option you can order various headsets. I am not sure about this so what is the difference?
Headsets

FSA CLEARANCE : FSA Headset Orbit XL 2 1 1/8 Black 101-1005 - RRP £39.95 (+£25.00)
FSA CLEARANCE : FSA Orbit X Headset 1" 1/8 Black 121-0005 - RRP £49.95 (+£30.00)
FSA Orbit X Headset 1 1/8 Silver - RRP £50!" (+£39.13) Sold Out - more...
FSA Headset Orbit X-Treme Pro Silver - £90 RRP!!! (+£44.03) Sold Out - more...
FSA CLEARANCE : FSA Headset Orbit X-Treme Pro Black 101-0050 - RRP £79.95 (+£50.00)
On-One Smoothie Regular Headset (+£35.97)
On-One Smoothie Grande Headset (+£46.25) Sold Out - more...
Would anyone have any comments on the stems available. They seem quite cheap but vary in the amount of rise. I will opt for 80mm but am not sure on the amount of rise I need. Is 6deg fairly standard?
Finally they offer their own brand of wheels Would anyone know if they are good value?

The 456 is heavier duty, a heavier frame and different geometry - can also take a 6 inch travel fork.
The OnOne stems are great value.
I'd get the Orbit XL2.0 -

You'll have to be quick, they're stopping production and the 456s are out of stock already - the Inbreds aren't likely to be far behind.
The Inbred is available in two versions - Slot Dropout and Not Slotted Dropout. The Slot Dropout (red) version can be run single-speed or geared, the Not Slotted (white) is gears only.
Inbreds are for 4 - 5 inch forks only (the 456 will take up to 6", hence the "456" moniker).
Personally I think that On-One are way overpriced for headsets. I've just got a Token from CRC which is basically an un-badged FSA and it's excellent quality and a snap at £13.
As far as wheels go, how about a pair of THESE?0 -
Thanks for the clarification I thought the only difference between 456 and Inbred was the slot drop out. I'm definately after the 456 so will have to wait for the next batch. The guy from On-One mailed back to say this was 7 or 8 weeks.
Cheers for the advice on the other components this will be my first build so there will be a fair bit of learning along the way. Should be fun though.0 -
If you want a good value cromo frame for shorter forks (upto 100mm), take a look at this:

Very light too.0 -
the 456 is tougher than the inbred, i'd say go shorter than an 80mm stem, i've got a 50mm on mine and it's great, 40mm was too short though.0

Completely agree. 50-60mm is perfect.
Some summer seasons still in stock- pretty much the same. Bit slacker, bit heavier. Probably won't notice the difference if using a 5inch fork.0 -
