Hi, I have just converted to a compact FSA chainset 50 - 34 on my roadbike. I have a campag 9 speed veloce gear setup. The front mech needs trimming to cope with the ratio, not a problem. I am running a 12 -23 on the back and think I need a long cage mech, could anyone confirm that the gears will run better ( the chain is Taut in the lower ratios but fine under the middle to upper gear area.) Could i use a shimano rear mech or will i have to stick with campag?

Thanks

Gary

Your short cage mech is fine with the Compact and 12 / 23 cassette :D
Just make sure the chain is the right length for your setup.

If you've changed from a compact to a 50/34, you may have to add a few more links to your chain.

Actually he's changed to a compact, so should have to take off a few links.
