glasses for glasses wearers

Hi folks

Any of you guys wear normal glasses and if so what type of cycling glasses do you use
I cannot wear contact lenses so normal wrap around sunglasses is out for me
Is there anything I can get without blowing the bank
I have a normal pair of sunglasses with my prescription in them but they are crap for cycling

any ideas

    The BBB Powerview or Powerview 2 dont break the bank but no doubt your optician will relieve you of some serious wedge to have your prescription fitted

    I have been told about looking at a pair of Rudy Project glasses - you can get prescription inserts for them. Have a look at http://www.gosportspex.com

    I switch between my normal specs and my prescription sunglasses depending on how bright it is, never really had any issue with either

    Prescription glasses with light reactive lenses-no problems to date.

    And although it goes against the "Golden Rules" :wink: of road biking I would recommend fitting a mirror as there is probably a blind spot off the edge of the lenses when you look behind you.

    I used to wear Rudy Project Ekynox SX with the prescription bit.
    Cost me about £200 by the time my optician fleecd me for glazing the inserts.
    They are a it on the heavy side by the time you include the insert.

    Got Oakley Flak Jacket prescription now. Much lighter and they're much cleare and really sharpen things up.

    Other option iis if you can wear contacts buy bog stadard non-prescription jobs and just wear contacts.

    I think there was a similar thread at the turn of the year. One guy looked into it all and went with the best deals he found, which he then blogged.

    I'd agree with this.

    I tried some Adidas Evil Eyes in a local independent opticians and they quoted me £180 for the specs plus the two colours of lenses they come with as standard.
    Each set of additional lenses were, I think, £39
    And of course I'd need a RX insert

    I bought all this lot from gosportspex for £184 and they turned them round within the week

    - they also have gobikespex.co.uk and the prices are slightly different between the two, so check which is cheapest !

    My Mrs was asking about this today as she wears prescription glasses and the sunglasses she has don't wrap around and give her the protection she wants.

    Less than £50 for a good looking set seems a bargain to me.

    The only problem is when buying online if you have a strong prescription they don't tend to go over _/+ 6

    Also bear in mind that with stronger prescrips rxable will be the only way forward and you may also have to pay extra to get thinned lenses to keep the weight down and also for them to fit properly.
