Browsing for my first MTB, saw this for £199 at Chain Reaction Cycles:

Ive searched but cant find anything on this version, only the XCs and XCR. The spec seems pretty basic to my untrained eye:

* BB set:

* Handlebar:

* Front Hub:

* Grips:
GT Dual Density ATB
* Rims:
Alloy ATB, black with silver sidewalls
* Rear Cogs:
Shimano 7 Speed 14-28 HG
* Saddle:
GT Custom MTN with anatomic pressure relief
* Rear Derailleur:
Shimano TX-50
* Seat Clamp:
Alum QR
* Fork Material:
6061, Triple Triangle, with Dirt Worthy Geometry, disc compatible with removeable hanger (24 inch wheel not removable)
* Front Brake:
Radius linear pull brake
* Pedals:
High Impact nylon platform
* Brake Levers:
Shimano ST-EF50
* Rear Hub:
Alloy QR
* Crankset:
Suntour XCC-T02, 42,32,22
* Stem:
GT ATB, threadless 25 degree rise with four bolt alum face plate
* Tires:
ATB Dual purpose, 27 TPI 26 x 2.1
* Headset:
Aheadset Threadless
* Chain:
UG-50
* Shifters:
Shimano ST-EF50 7 speed EZ fire shifters
* Seat Post:
Alloy Micro adjust
So, worth buying or should I spend the few quid extra for a Carrera Vulcan?
Any opinions on dealing with Chain Reaction? Are they a respected retailer?
Thanks in advance.

spend more 75mm travel is not what you want for off road, having said that I rode 3-4 years with 80mm , but definately held me back in hindsight. You ideally want 100mm.
you do generally get what you pay for0 -
There are better bikes for that money. Have a read od the Beginners FAQ in the beginners section.0
