I've noticed the socks that Lance uses aren't like other pros use - does anyone know why this is, or even what type of socks they are? They look a lot longer than many other pros use.

Isn't the tale that when he was a teenager doing his first triathlons, he only had had normal black socks, not white sports socks.
People - older, experienced competitors with more money and fancy bikes, etc - laughed at him, but being Lance all that did was irritate him and make him even more determined to beat them.
So even to this day he defiantly rides in long black socks as a 'f*ck you' statement.

Why would anyone buy 3 socks? 2 yeah, 4 yeah. 3, no.

They're not socks at all. They are carbon fibre feet. With motors

When he retired and said he was "putting his feet up", he meant it literally.

No, that's where the pros carry their spare tubulars. I think. At least that's how I do it.

I think they are the very same socks, having seen the state of his saddle on the 'Lance's Saddle' thread.

I remember when the UCI rules stated you had to wear black shorts and white socks.

I'd happily have that reintroduced. Especially on the shorts front.

I wear black socks as well, for both cycling & running.

It annoyed me when Wigley Braggins was mentioned a few times for wearing black socks during the Tour, even (dare I mention his name) LA commented on it. Now when I go out people think I'm wearing black socks to be like them! I'm not - honest!

Just that all this talking "socks" got me thinking about er....socks.

    Ask Heather Mills...

...or Rolf Harris (OK so maybe they're pitching at a niche market)
    "Impressive break"

    "Thanks...
