Camping on the Danube Cycleway

Im concerned about not finding accomodation without prebooking it and wonder if camping is a better option.Has anyone done this and are campsites a plenty..?

    Which stretch are you doing? We did Vienna to Budapest last June and accommodation wasn't too hard to come by (we only booked Vienna and Budapest). But if you're doing a German / Austrian stage in mid summer, agreed you might struggle.

    Can recommend the Bikeline Guides, available from the Sustrans shop - great maps and accommodation suggestions. Just make sure you get the guide applicable to the section you're riding.

    Just got back from doing Munich to Budapest and then around Hungary. Plenty of camp sites, hotels, "zimmers" and much of it, especially in Germany and Austria, specially aimed at cyclists. Let me know where you are going and I can give you specific info.
