I installed a new shifter and gear cable for my front gears. And I adjusted it following the instructions on the park tools website.
However now I can't shift up gear. Using the lever I can shift the chain to the middle cog however I need to hold it for a second to get it to stay in position and any time I shift to the large cog the shifter just springs back.
Does this mean the cable is too tight.

Sounds like the H stop is set incorrectly.
Though checck the cable routing and ensure is clamped correctly.0
