Afternoon all

Anyone use these for the commute or longer rides? If so, are they comfortable and durable?

Cheers.

Which model? They make quite a few, some with Coolmax pads, some with Twist Gel/ Intech gel.

    Good point.

The Ice model. It's fitted with the Intech Gel pad.

I don't have any, but I hear lots of good things. On another thread (or forum) someone said they prefered them to assos.

I have 2 pairs of the santini fluid twist gel shorts. They are the 'pro rider' cut, quite short in the leg - good for the cyclists sun tan... but they are v good chamois, a type of soft suede I think - comfortable....

I bought two sets the other day from Prendas in Poole, Cool Max Tech IIRC.

They are magic (nothing else to compare them with though).

I always rave about Prendas but those Santini ICE in Wiggle are the best deal at the moment - more so if you got a £5 voucher!

Thanks, chaps. :) Wiggle are out of my size, so might opt for the Castellis if I can't find them for a similar price elsewhere.

Is the ICE pad meant to be better than the twistgel pad then....?

I thought twistgel might be considered better but maybe not.

Prendas sell a santini bibshort with twistgel for £89.99 IIRC, but GBcycles have a Santini Twistgel bibshort which a forum member recommended to me, for £59.99, and they are very comfy, not too short in the leg either, good for long rides, or any rides come to that.

AFAIK the pad on the ICEs is a Gel one, I suppose it would be the Twist Gel one as the Gel Genesis only goes on the range topper offerings by Santini.

Just a word of advice if you order from gb cycles.

I wrongly assumed that the 32 was a medium, and thought the sizes would go from XS - XXLG.

When they arrives they were Large, so I had to send back and order 30's which were mediums.

No hassle though with the refund, all handled efficiently.

For sizing with Santini clothing you should check Prendas charts - they are spot on.

For reference, I am 6'4" and I am between 4 and 3 XL

I have one of each, and there does not appear much in it.
