Oh yeah, here we go, calm yourself people, the Tour of Poland is on us again. I know how popular this race is, so I'm going to have to limit PTP entrants to maybe... 200 people. According to the adverts on Eurosport, high emotions are guaranteed, so don't all rush in with your selections.

^ Includes stage profiles. Stage 1 is a crit, not a TT. Most of the stages are still ridiculously long. Stages 5 and 6 are the decisive ones.

A whole Kazahk Astana team. Thats gotta be a first and just shows how appealing the TOP is... why are Eurosport showing this?

The stages are long because (a) it’s a remnant of the Peace Race, which also went in for pretty long stages, and (b) much of Poland is as flat as the France we saw on stage 11, and with it only lasting a week, you’ve got to have some way of possibly thinning out the contenders before the hills.

239.7 kilometres for stage 4 is 15 kilometres longer than the longest stage in the whole of the Tour de France. I'm not sure that's really necessary, tbh. Other races in flat parts of the world don't need stages that long - 190 kilometres is the maximum in the Tour of Denmark

Maybe this is in view of the large desertion from Astana to Shack, to see who has the potential to help Vino, or maybe it's part of a national plan to encourage cycling as a national sport in Kazakhstan.

At least Kazakhstan has sent a 'national' team there to try them out. There's no equivalent Great Britain team of upcoming youth. Even GB-registered Barloworld, who could have been given a wild card, only have 3 GB riders in their squad. To my mind, that shows the state or at least support of GB pro cycling is worse than whatever you think of the ToP. Sounds a bit apples and pears, but you probably get my gist.
