My mate just arrived on the street with this!
He works as a restorer of trams, buses and trains, and picked one up for a fiver lol.

Funny thing was my mum was walking back from work at the time, and I stuck my head out of the window and hollered at her! The look of shock was fantastic!0

Yep, First used to sell them off for a nominal sum to get rid of them! Cheaper than scrapping. But he is a top mechanic my mate, and does them back up again.0

Sheffield Weekly Gazette, Thursday, June 15, 2006
The last of the old-style double-decker buses will drive the final routes next weekend. After a quarter of a century of service, the citys remaining Dennis Dominator buses are being replaced. "The Dominator is as much an iconic part of Sheffield as the Routemaster bus was in London." said bus company First's business analyst Andy Metcalfe. The Routemaster has also been phased out.
To mark the occasion that Sunday, four Dominators will ply the 82 route between Bents Green and Stannington, with fares at a £1 maximum and all money going to Sheffield Childrens Hospital.
Bus enthusiasts from all over the country will make a special pilgrimage for the event.
Only some 1000 Dominators were built from 1981, but almost a third of them, 327, were bought for South Yorkshire. Today there are just 14 left.
"The South Yourkshire buses were unique. Because of Sheffields hills they were fitted with Rolls-Royce Eagle engines. We were the only ones which had them." said Andy.
And the interiors were also specially designed. Bus company engineers worked closely with the body builders.
Of the 14, six have been snapped up by enthusiasts and conservation groups, one by a First engineer. The rest will be scrapped.0 -

Awesome.
Once a year at work we have a "Vehicle Enthusiasts Day" where people bring in their old classics and this year someone brought in an old Routemaster that they'd spent the last 15 years restoring, looks like your mate might have his work cut out!"The problem was, I was still using my eyes even though I had them shut"
Demoted to commuting duty
