I've only just started getting the hang of it again, not as confident about it as I use to be though

It's a pretty useless skill though, isn't it?

It may help improve your balance a little but in terms of mountain biking you'd be better of practising a number of other things.

The faster you go, the more stable the wheels will be due to the centrifugal force of them rotating. So to ride no handed don't go slow but go really fast.

Science lesson over, have a good sleep.

I can't do it on a mountain bike. Can do it on a road bike though, which is a lot more useful.

Was riding no handed a while back down a fairly steep hill, got a high-speed wobble on the front wheel and absolutely shat mysef. Not tried it since

or at least stop taking the steroids
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
  • Round here the chavs get away with cycling with no hands, bare chested, texting on their phone whilst keeping their other hand tucked into the front of their trackie bottoms.

A mastery of balance, arrogance and communications.
It truly is a sight to behold

I could never manage it when ever i had my Continenal Speed Kings on, the bike just had a mind of its own once you let go of the bars, ive got specialzed tyres on now and riding with no hands is easy and the bike runs nice and straight

First time I done it, I broke my arm haha (was like 12 yrs old). Most memorable no handed experience was doing my cycle to work with no hands which is up a huge hill, down aforementioned hill then up another. Was quite a challenge!
