Later on today, my 1995/6 Kona AA is being dropped off....
It needs a lot of restoring done to it, but its 'overall' servicable....
It has:
LX front mech
XT rear mech
Sugino triple crankset
Gripshift
Ritchey Logic canti brakes
Marzocchi XCR forks (these are fooked - hopefully I can get parts to restore them (50mm travel lol) if not I may have to purchase sonic's P2s
LX hubs on mavic ?? rims
Quill stem (needs new bolts as old ones have rusted)
Racelight retro bars
Purple Ano bar ends...
I'm going to start stripping it down tomorro..... it's going to be a retro build, going to try to keep as much of the existing kit on it as possible, all I am changing is the gearing, am going to turn this into a SS!!!!
Ive got some Conti Sport contact tyres that I was going to sell, but now shall keep them!
Frame has a few marks but overall is in great nick!!!
Going to be scouring the classifieds for a few bits....
Hopefully, will end up something like this, exactlly the same apart from the forks and yellow grips etc.... oh and did I mention singlespeed

Fancy keeping it as cheap and retro as possible....... like the idea of retro pace forks!
Not sure about all this quill stem malarky though.... haven't seem one in years!!! God knows!!
Just ordered these levers, old style but that was my intention

Yes, it is astoundingly light, as light as my Marin believe it or not, will be lighter still when I get rid of the gearing (will flog that on here or retrobike)
I'll probably end up having them off you, the marz on there are shot to pieces.... Ill let you know mid week paul... gotta wait to get paid and all that
Spent the last bit of 'bike allowance' on the levers and grips (again, they were fooked on the bike)
I have no idea how the whole 'quill stem' works....
Someone help me out on this :?0 -
Quill stems fit inside the steerer with a wedge and dog bolt. they do not prelaod the bearings, and are adjustable.
the bearings are adjusted via a threaded steerer, and a big nut and lock nut.
Which means my threadless forks will not fit, unless you change headset to a threadless one (and normal stem), and it is a 1 1/8th, not one inch.0
