Just got my new MTB

I'm a (sort of) beginner. I had a really old Raleigh FS bike which I bought 2nd hand, but the frame was extremely heavy, the suspension barely worked and the brakes and gears needed replacing too. I also needed a larger frame size. So, I bought this Trek 6300 hardtail today, for £600 (l got £75 off).

I know it doesn't compare to many of the bikes I've seen here, but I'll post the specs from the website for anyone who's interested. :)

Frameset

Frame: Alpha Black Aluminum w/externally relieved head tube, hydroformed bi-axial down tube and top tube, monostay seatstays, forged disc ready dropouts
Front Suspension: RockShox Dart 3 w/preload, lockout, alloy steerer, 100mm

Wheels

Wheels: Shimano M475 disc hubs; Bontrager Ranger, 32-hole rims w/eyelets
Tires: Bontrager Jones XR, 26x2.2/2.25"; 27 tpi

Drivetrain

Shifters: Shimano Deore, 9 speed
Front Derailleur: Shimano Deore
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Deore
Crank: Shimano M442 Octalink 44/32/22
Cassette: SRAM PG950 11-34, 9 speed
Pedals: Alloy platform

Components

Saddle: Bontrager Race Basic
Seat Post: Bontrager SSR, 20mm offset
Handlebars: Bontrager Race Riser, 25mm rise, 650mm width
Stem: Bontrager SSR, 10 degree, 31.8mm
Headset: VP-A76C-TK, 1 1/8" semi-cartridge, sealed
Brakeset: Avid Juicy 3, hydraulic disc; 185mm front rotor, 160mm rear rotor


Have I done well for £600? I had considered others from Evans but they had a poor selection at thier Milton Keynes shop, and I didn't want to risk the £50 deposit you have to pay to order one in. The bikes at my local Halfords looked like they'd been put together by a 12 year old, and the staff weren't too helpful. So I opted to using a local shop, where the staff were amazingly helpful and gave me a nice discount. They also had loads of bikes built up for me to test ride.

    I've got a Dart 3, and I'm sure Max recommended rotor size is 160mm, but you have 185mm. :?:
    Why has my sig been removed by the admins???

    All the parts are as standard from the manufacturer. Surely Trek wouldn't list discs which were too big for the forks? :?

    I'm taking it for a proper test now

    Yeah I doubt Trek would do something unsafe!

    I had been looking at getting a larger front disc rotor, but when I looked at the RockShox site it said Max rotor size for Dart 3 is 160mm.

    So I'm confused too lol :?

    Nice ride.
    And that's a unique Dart 3, never seen that one before, looks great.

    About the rotor, maybe RS did some testing and they concluded that the Darts
    can handle 185mm rotors, probably. :?

    Lovely looking bike mate, well done!

    There seems to be a lot of spacers under your stem (or is it one giant one? :? ), I'd take a few out personally...

    I had 185 rotors on me Dart 3's and they were fine not sure if they came as standard or not as i got my bike secondhand, have since upgraded forks to recon race

    Seriously sexy looking bike you have there. 8)

    There looks to be a spacer in betwen the Front caliper and the Fork leg... Which would explain the reason the Dart is able to take the 185 rotor.
