A Silverfox Tercel frame.

I imagine some of you won't know what this is, so here's a picture:

Personally, I reckon there will be a lot opinions formed from the fact that Silverfox bikes aren't really up there, more of an 'Argos' brand.

I shall post up my findings of it from the past 5 years of owning it once i've seen a few replies :P

Looks like the kind of bike that weighs a ton, has pogo sticks for suspension front and rear and falls apart at the first sight of rough terrain.

You're gonna tell you love it aren't you?

Forget the forks and rear suspension, that's long gone!

Well the geometry might not be too bad, but it still looks like it would weigh a ton.

    Probably very flexy too.

    Stick some wheels on it.

That would improve the ride no end :)

Because even I had forgotten about this thread, until it came up on google...

The frame has had the bushes replaced with new machined ones to take out any play, the rear shock is also adjustable for spring rate and damping as well as some adjustment for travel.

The forks are now Rock Shox Tora's, brakes are Shimano M575 Hydro's, wheels have been upgraded and the chain set is now Deore LX with a nice set of two way shifters.

All in all the parts on the bike are very good and would make a new frame into a very nice bike should I be able to find said frame (another topic....)

As some people have pointed out, no the frame doesn't have any flex in it, nor is this a particularly heavy frame. Compared to other bikes it's still light and similar in weight to a more modern frame.

How it rides is very interesting, despite it not being a more "up market" frame it is still very enjoyable and faster than hard tail GT's, not to mention much easier to ride on the more technical stuff. Travel and comfort is also good, having spent several days out on it at a time and still being able to get off and not feel pain where I didn't know I had places has been a surprise!

Overall, compared to all the other bikes i've ridden it's clearly the underdog but it still shows that a fairly "low" market manufacturers frame can be made into a decent ride with the right set up. As it's become more of an extra limb over time i'm beginning to think it's time for a change. I need another bike to mess around with - rather than being serious but this is another thread!

If you like it, then that is all that matters! Of course the new bearings will improve things no end, and a good shock will help.

No doubt it is a copy of an older spesh FSR/Enduro, and will weight more.

Don't think there's anything wrong with it's looks, it's disturbingly similar to an old specialised FSR XC.
