commando - with chammy cream for long rides - had the discussion with a mate a couple of weeks ago - he now goes commando and much prefers it - sweaty cotton next to the skin just rubs too much

Lycra shorts were deigned not to have anything underneath. Or you can wear cotton undies if you're into that kind of pain.
