Disc rotor/pad cleaning

Hi Guys

Is it ok to use white spirit to clean hydraulic disc pads and rotors?

    Yes - a Scotchbrite pad also helps - as long as you don't apply anything that will contaminate the pads
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Best thing is brake cleaner, as used for cars and truck... Cheap and very good for removing grease on rotors and pads...

    I would be slightly wary of using white spirit, because it is oil-based. Either brake cleaner or something like cellulose thinners would do...

    Try electrical contact cleaner which degreases and evaporates leaving the discs dry and oil free.

    Electrical contact cleaner and brake cleaner is the same solvent for your info...

    How does the electrical contact cleaner remove stuff if it evaporates off.

    Presumably you need to really fluch the area with solvent.

    it doesn't evapourate instantly.....it would be pretty useless if it did....

    The contact cleaner is a degreaser which evaporates after a minute or so. you can spray it onto a rag then wipe the rotor clean, or flush in a large amount if you want.

    Car brake cleaner will be much the same.
