I don't know, are you the wicked witch of the west? Do you have rabies? 8)

There is no reason not to ride in the rain other than to avoid getting wet, you're bike will be fine, although i'm not sure about bamboo bikes...

    Ride in it man!

Been out a few times recently and teh only difference is that I nee dto go steadier on the brakes. I'm combating that by getting on the drops more (I feel I have greater breaking control) and considering upgrading my brake pads to Kool Stop or similar.

No you can't. If you have to ask, you're not up to it.

although if you are wearing wool, and it is warm rain (40 degrees plus), according to the label, your clothes may experience some shrinkage.

Yep of course, often do on the commute. Unless your bike is pure magnesium, when you may experience a strange burning sensation.....

ha ha very funny - the lot of you!

The reason I ask is that I'd seen a few guys saying they wouldn't go out when it was raining and I thought that it was something to do with the tyres no being up to it or something. It's lashing it down here and I wanted to go out tonight so it now looks like I can.....

That's 'cause they don't wanna get their bike wet.

As mentioned - white lines, grids, manhole covers etc get very slippery. Braking takes a little longer and you tend to go round corner a bit slower.

Just take care, be observant and relax.

Rain is good for you. 2 hour ride in driving rain this morning but felt much fresher when I got home than in previous days.
One other good thing-clothes got so wet that it lubricated my shorts in the sensitive areas so there was no chafing down there at all.

Maybe a more sensibly-phrased question would have got you better answers. Can I ride in the rain is an open invite, esp on a Friday.

Get wet, enjoy it to the full. Give the old bike a wipe down afterwards though.

Nah, the caesium would be rubbish, cos if you picked it up (in an innert atmosphere) it'd just melt.

Caesium is cool like that, you can melt it in your hand...

...maybe that as well, but riding side-saddle is usually a dead giveaway.
