What is a screw through axle?

Please excuse my ignorance, but I've searched on here and couldn't find anything relevant....
What is a screw through axle and how is it different to a "normal" one? Also, what are the benefits of them? For example I've seen on a couple of reviews for the Lapierre Zesty 314 that it would benefit from one
Thanks in advance

there are dif types, 15mm, 20mm, and bolt through. on the fork at least, there are two ways of doing it, one is with a fat axle, not discimilar to a QR but bigger(15 or 20mm dep on manufacturer), and a spesh hub, the other is similar but has alen key ends. some frames have a 12mm "maxle" on the back, it works on the same principle.I like bikes and stuff0

you may be mixing terminology.
there are a few "through" axled forks out there of varying diameters.
generally they are not as flexy as their Qr versions."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
