Please excuse my ignorance, but I've searched on here and couldn't find anything relevant....

What is a screw through axle and how is it different to a "normal" one? Also, what are the benefits of them? For example I've seen on a couple of reviews for the Lapierre Zesty 314 that it would benefit from one

Thanks in advance :D

there are dif types, 15mm, 20mm, and bolt through. on the fork at least, there are two ways of doing it, one is with a fat axle, not discimilar to a QR but bigger(15 or 20mm dep on manufacturer), and a spesh hub, the other is similar but has alen key ends. some frames have a 12mm "maxle" on the back, it works on the same principle.

    you may be mixing terminology.

there are a few "through" axled forks out there of varying diameters.

generally they are not as flexy as their Qr versions.
