Replacement Wheel Bearings - Should I Buy Shimano ?

I am replacing both sets of uncaged bearings. Previously I bought Shimano originals, but since they are standard 3/16 and 1/8 sizes, I can just buy regular loose bearings which are heaps cheaper.
Any advice or experiences would be welcome.
PS I am not bothered about ceramic, more concerned with durability & simplicity.
Cheers.

Yes you can. Just make sure they are good quality. Grade 25 seems to be as good as it gets although there are grade 10 about if you can find them. Most of the replacement bearings stocked by LBS seem to be inferior grade 1000 or there abouts. The little packets of Weldtite bearing are grade 1000. Avoid unless you want to walk home on your next 200 audax.I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks0

I agree with The Mechanic.
Grade 100 is standard for most bicycles.
Campagnolo uses grade 25. (I think??)
Grade 10 is not too expensive and would be better.0 -

For the record, Simply Bearings were great, I ordered PM and they arrived next day AM without special delivery, good customer service.
