is the padding on mtb shorts different to that on road bikes? just been out on a road bike for first time ever. i did 3 hours, and i've been on the mtb for more than that, but i got a sore a**e about half way round.

It's possibly partly due to the fact that normally on a road bike, you stay seated for a much longer duration on the ride, whereas on an MTB you tend to move about alot more?

I take it you did your "road-ride" in MTB padded shorts?

Also arent road bike seats more lightweight therefore not as comfy, wide as mtb seats

and dont forget, a road bike is a much harsher ride with rock solid tyres and no suspension.
