I am shortly returning to the UK from Japan and interested to know if there are clubs in the Watford/Bushey area. I am interested in weekend rides, longer distances and endurance. My objectives are primarily fitness.

Many thanks !

Charles

Think The Gregarios are Watford based, but nice as their website is, it doesn't actually seem to tell you where they meet for club runs:

    A bit further afield:
    - Archer RC
    - Edgeware RC
    - Hemel Hempstead CC
    - Hillingdon CC
    - Hounslow Wheelers
    - Team Quest
    - Twickenham CC
    - Willesden CC

For a w/e run out contact the chaps in 'The Bike Shop', North Harrow (Quest bikes). They have a run out on Sundays with Willesden CC (I think) and will give you friendly advise re clubs. Great LBS for you as well.

I found it (eventually) - Alpine Restaurant, Bushey Heath:

I'll big up the Gregarios - they're a good bunch of riders but you always get the impression they never take themselves that seriously.

2nd nicest jersey in the division too
  • The Gregarios looks ideal and the meeting place is just around the corner !

As a result of this post I've just been out with http://www.gregarios.co.uk/. First time ever on a club run (apart from a run out with RPCC ). I was made to feel very welcome and had a great time. There was a range of ages and abilities and everyone is welcome. Went out through the country lanes of Herts' with a leisurely cake stop (scrambled eggs on toast, choc' fudge cake and a cappo' to be precise). 82 miles for me from home and back at 17mph ave. I will definately be going out with them again and if you're interested then I recommend you give it a go.
