    Vanilla's are coil forks, Float are air forks.

    Manufacturers can & do change bike spec's within a model year/range.

    If you wanted the coil vanillas, then get in touch with the shop.

    Vanilla is the coil model, Float is the air (and more expensive).

    well the air float is about £100 more than the coil.

    bike makers can change the spec of their bikes at any time.

    Stick with the air forks, play with the rebound and enjoy. Those have rebound right?

    I have the float RL, I don't know the difference between those and the R's but I think they are great for OEM forks.

    R = Rebound
    L = Lockout
    C = Compression.

    The float is a very good fork, 1/2lb lighter than the vanilla & more tunable.

    Some people prefer the feel of coil. If you don't, stick with the float.
  • I too recently bought an 09 RR and got Floats not Vanillas!
    I've had 2003 Vanilla Rs, 2008 Vanilla RLCs, 2008 Talas RLCs and 2009 Float Rs.
    The Floats on the Marin are the best I've had, supple from new and dead easy to set up!
    Don't complain, be happy!
