Fitting disk brakes to Alex DM20

As per title...can this be done?

I've not fitted disks before so I'm a bit confused; do you need special rims for disks? My frame has the correct lugs on it (for the back brake) and I was planning to get a set of front susp. forks with lugs to replace my standard rigid ones. Both wheels are Alex DM20 and they're on a Specialized Hardrock XC - which is standard space as far as I can see, currently on Tektro V brakes.

    You need the correct hubs with rotor mounts on them* as well as the frame & fork mounts, also brake levers & gear levers not on the same bar clamp help cut costs as you won't need new gear levers if they're on a separate clamp.

    * Which look like this

    Note the 6 bolt holes on the left hand side of the hub.

    Wow, thanks for the info! Looks like a no-go then: by the time I've upgraded my little third-hand beast I could have bought myself a whole new bike, lol. Ah well...a good excuse to buy a new bike sooner ;)
