Not been going fast enough or going too fast.

Either way, I noticed my brakes had declined in quality (although not quantity) a tad, and were not their usual effective selves.

Now, people, this is a health and safety announcement...

Change your brake pads.

I am a complete incompetent and it took me all of 10 minutes.

Check out the difference between old and new... sorry for the soft focus - my phone camera's a bit naff.

    Soft focus - Hollywood Girlie....

    female brakes, they must be.

Ah yes - it all makes perfect sense. Girlie brakes past their best, so they go into soft focus.

    Ah for god's sake.

I try to do the 'good citizen' thing with a public safety broadcast about brakepads and you lot go and meander off topic into a discussion about my bed/workbench...

    'tis funny though.

    I don't know what you're complaining about.

You take soft focus photos of your bed with worn out rubber toys, call it your workbench and then wonder why we all get all steamed up.

What size duvet would you buy for that though and getting fitted sheets would be a nightmare too.

  • ...meanwhile, back on topic

My confession. Bike braking not as good as it was. I decided that the cable obviously needed tightening. Found out how to do it on web and did it. Very proud I was too. A week later there was this awful squealing noise when I hit the now efficient brakes. Took bike home, took off brake pads to check rubber and found there was none! Just shiny metal. Fitting new blocks meant losening the cables that i'd just tightened - luckily I hadn't cut them too short.

So, follow LiTs advice and always check your rubber (there you go, that double entendre should be sufficient to get this thread back off track again - sorry LiT  )
