Are mavic 351 rims DH rims? and are they what they now call 721?

Also are DT Swiss XR1 wheels any good for XC.

    There isn't a 351 as far as I know.

    Yeah they did, spoke to the guy in my LBS and he said they had changed it to something like 721..

    Just to confuse things the XM321's became EN321's.

    FYI.
    The last two figures on a mavic rim ie; the 21 in 321 refer to the internal width of the rim. So for example an XC717 will have an internal width of 17mm. A 321 will have an internal width of 21mm

    Not a lot of people know that.

    There was a D521 downhill rim which has been replaced by the EX721

    So in that case whats a 521 rim then, is it pretty much like a DT 5.1D?

    it is an OLD rim braked rim that was used for DH as it gave a better profile , for some people, than the Old D321

    NO that is the EN 521 Not the old 521 may have had a D in front showing it as a Downhill rim.
