I usually ride in just a T-Shirt and have wiped out (again) today in the local trails doing a tricky downhil slope and my fore-arms are really cut up, grazed and scratched.

I'm thinking of getting a long sleeve jersey just to cut down on the scratches and offer a bit off cushioning / protection, ideally needs to be breathable too.

What do you recommend ?

Pads! Just a layer of cloth gives very little protection

  • It's not pads I need (I have a set of knee pads) it's more something just long sleeve and breathable, just to cut down on the scraps and grazes.
  • anyone recommend some decent shorts, baggy/non lycra??

i know north face have good gear though cant find soem decent baggy shorts though for trail rides.

Can't go wrong with long or short sleeve Helly Hansen or similar base layer on top half. I just wear general sport shorts. Much cheaper than the dedicated MTB stuff and just as suitable, unless you want to colour code your clothes with your bash guard.
