Replace the chain when you put a new cassette?

Hello guys,

I am planning on replacing my 9sp Shimano HG50 12-25 cassette with a 9sp Ultegra cassete 12-27 cassette. Will that work straight out of the box or do I need to replace the chain?

Also, do I need to do anything to the mech/shifters as the cassettes are slightly different?

Thanks a lot,
Gabriel

Generally yes unless the chain has had very little use. Using a worn chain could accelerate the wear on the cassette. You shouldn't need to adjust your gears either.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Brilliant - cheers Monty Dog :)

Chain was due to be changed anyway so all the better
