Avid juicy - Sintered vs Organic

Bought some new pads for my Avid Juicy Carbons - unexpectedly they have black backplates rather than the copper or silver colour I am used to. They are an organic (rather than sintered metallic) compound.

Question is - is the organic compound better/worse or just different??? If it is worse I may return them. Any advice gladly received....

    Just different, wont last as long as sintered pads but should have slightly more braking effort..

    While it's dry at the moment fit them and get them bedded in. Order yourself some sintered pads too, that way you'll have sintered for main use, but when we get the odd dry week you'll have a set of bedded in pads ready to use.

    Organic compound is slightly softer. So better brake efficiency and higher wear rate. And a better feel through the levers. I ve EBC sintered pads in my juicy 7 and prefer them to organic. The feels difference is minimal imo. Wear rate is much better and they still stop you on a dime.

    When I was running Avids I found that the best compromise was to have organic at the front and sintered at the rear. The front organic (once you've properly bedded it in) gave good bite whereas the sintered rear gave good longevity. I also found that as long as you bedded in the organic pads you still got a reasonable amount of life from them

    Anybody got any experience of running one of each (sintered/organic) in the same caliper?

    I've been doing some trawling on the net, and this seems to be a fairly common recommendation?

    Or isn't there really that much difference between the 2?

    I'm not really sure it would work to well due to the different wear rates of the pads. The organic side would wear quicker than the sintered.

    Ashima make some SOS pads, sintered organic sintered.The leading and trailing edge of the pads are sintered whilst the middle is organic but they're designed to be used that way.

    What about these? Anyone tried Ceramic?

    I think the consensus was that you'd have to replace the organic pad in the caliper more often than the sintered, so different wear rates wasn't a major issue.

    I use these pads year round and cant really fault them (once fitted)

    A lot of this is because I am too lazy to keep swapping pads though :p
