Make sure you get the sizing right, with Assos it's so critical.

Depends what you're after. Some places are cheaper for certain items yet dearer for others.

What items are you looking at?

I have just purchased some more assos kit for this year. I got mines from www.primera-bournemouth.co.uk and saved £50 compared to Wiggle for the same items.

I've always found Primera good value - and the service has been good too.
I'm left handed, if that matters.
  • Air Jack Ltd, Three glove system, Bib Shorts to start my collection.

Seconded. I wouldnt advise buying any size sensitive Assos kit without opportunity to try it on. Need to check for each bit of clothing e.g. I am L in shorts and M in tops. (Other way round is v uncomfortable...)

Ribble http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk are probably the cheapest for the other items.

Well spotted, one (another!) pair of black XL "new" F1s duly ordered.

I would save your money on the 3 glove system. I have them and am not overly impressed. Good if it is cold and dry but they are absolute rubbish in the wet.

Glad you got good service. This is my LBS and this deal seemed very good. Can't justify buying any more gear myself though!

I'm looking for a Assos Powerstatic Plus baselayer in a Large size in either titan (grey) or black. If anyone has one to see (obviously must be nearly new or excellent condition ie. unwanted gift etc.) I will pay top money for.

Older stock now and the dealers, and Yellow Limited themselves, don't have any left.

    cheers

of the assos bib tights which one has got the most windproof bits? as theres the airprotec, airblock & winter ll with s5 pad

I think the Airprotec with the S2 Mille insert because of the knee support. Very warm all over. I'm not sure about the new Winter LL with the S5 pad, which you can get without the pad btw, certainly looks very good, but I haven't tried that one yet.

its confusing as youd know the airprotec bibtights have the airblock stuff covering the front and behind the knee, while the airblock bibtights cover the "knees and upper thigh" and the winter bib tights just says "Airblock 851 insert in strategic positions for wind protection" & "Double layer with RX and fleece fabric on the abdomen and internal thighs"

Well you have obviously read about it and that's a good thing.

Back in Oct at the London show I was talking to the Assos rep and he reckoned between the Airblock and the Airprotec, the latter was the one to get. Which is the one I was going for anyway.

The Winter LLs with the insert is over 200 quid now and that is a lot of money even for a hardened Assos fan like myself. If you have the cash I say go for it. The problem is you're not going to know if any of the tights are for you unless you buy them and try them.

In practice they do feel good, well made, very comfortable and of course you can feel the Assos quality. There ain't no cold getting in these babies believe me.

  • Is it the Winter LL that some people find restrictive?
  • giant_man
    giant_man Posts: 6,878
    Where have you heard that?
  • I can't remember where i heard it. ( probably my LBS ) but somebody said that some people find one of the Assos bibtights restrict leg movement.

I've heard something similar about the Airblocks but not the new stuff must admit.
  • Airblocks it was then.

IME these are hard to beat, although the Under Armour ones are good too.
