MissingLink/Quick link thingy in a chain...

Just bought a new KNC 10-sp chain as my old one was beyond the 1%.

It's come with one of those easy split link chain joining doodads (technical term I know but bear with me) - I last had one joining 3 chains on my recumbent trike, and vividly remember it popping open as I over-vigorously crested a speed bump down Highgate Hill.

My question - do you all consider them secure enough to ride with, or would you opt for riveting the chain properly? Obviously if they're safe enough I'd appreciate the ease or removal etc, but I'd rather do the safest thing...

100% safe if properly fitted, and easier to fit properly than a joining pin.

I have no issues using them - the KMC ones are quite a tight connection. It may become loose if you remove often, so worth checking occasionally.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos
