Since it's mildly snowing out should I reduce my tire pressures? I've got a set of specalized crossroads armadilos on the commuter which I normaly run at 80psi

I'd put them down to the minimum all right.

I normally run at 90 - 100 - but I'd say - a bit of air out would prob be a good idea at the moment.
  • Yeah bon idee.
I should probably not run my 700x28 marathon plusses at 100psi on ice tomorrow morning whilst clipped in!.. shame I didn't bring my crossroads to my house from my parent's yesterday...good tyre!

I might lower my ludicrously high saddle too.. you know.. just in case!

All I can add is that 700x23 at 100 PSI was possibly not the best approach yesterday. The front wheel tracked OK but with anything more than the lightest touch on the pedals the back wheel spun and kicked out sideways. It was all quite entertaining (since I was on a quiet road).
  • heh yes taking the bike to have work done on it, coming out of the road the snow is now ice and 20mm really didn't cut it. as you say quite fun though.
