Front Derailleur Help

I have refitted my front Derailleur after not having one for about 3 months and cant for the life of me remember how the hell the cable goes in, It seems that it can go in a few ways but despite fettling for the best part of the afternoon I cant make it shift to all 3 chain rings, the bike is a yukon 08, the Derailleur is a Shimano C50, Please help me before I cry like a baby

    It goes in via the simplest route possible on a Yukon. Just loosen the clamp bolt, put the cable in behind it and tighten it again.

    Hummm well im going straight down but nothing I can do will make it shift all 3 rings :shock:

    Stop screws, cable tention?

    Is it undershifting on each change? If so, your cable tension's too low. When you're tightening the cable, grab it with some pliers and really pull it tight. Alternatively, there should be a barrel adjuster on your shifter, so just twist that out until it starts to shift to all the rings.

    Yea its under shifting but then not downshifting when I do tighten the cable :shock:

    Is it mounted straight, so that the plates of the mech are parallel with the chainrings?

    Dirty cable?

    Yup

    Brand new shifter and cable

    This is the reason I suspected I had not got the cable on in the correct manner
