These are only two sports that I really like. Have done the Alpine stuff quite a bit and will be going at the end of Feb. But this year I fancy trying a bit of Cross Country or Snow Shoe Walking as a bit of X training. Is it any good?
Has any one done that "walking- up" the mountain on skis with the skins on the ski base? Looks like an ultimate work out with and exhilarating down hill after.

I used to ski-moutaineer years ago, it can take half the day to ski up the mountain and about 30 minutes to come down. you need good ski technique - experience of windslab, polished ice and deep powder are essential - you'd often encounter them all on one descent! Living in the south means I haven't skied in a few years but do have some roller skis for a great x-training workout - inline skating is also good x-training too.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
