I've searched high and low but can't seem to find the answer about which front light to get.
I need a good set, but know nothing about them.

I want rechargeable but won't spend over £100. I've used cheaper ones and never found they do enough.

Any advice would be great

Depending on what you need I can highly reccomend a Niterider Minewt USB. I use one and find that even at 24mph on dark roads I can still see where I am going. It also has the option of being chargeable by USB so if you get to the office and realise it's not charged you can top it up during work hours (or in this credit crunch time just charge it at work and save yourself a few quid a month). It also seems to be waterproof so far, and has really been great for me.

Got one of these, throws out plenty of light and i take a spare battery with me to swop out for the ride home.

  • I had considered
    Cateye EL600 Single Shot

    and the L610

I took a look at the Niterider. looks good. £20 for the head mountable is a bit much but would be nice.

  • Mark, I'd forget the Cateye EL610 Single Shot Plus. I've been through 4 of them. Mounting rails broke on all of them - just through vibration on my 26 mile round journey commute.
I ran two together to get a decent amount of light, but now I've moved on to the AyUp Roadie and it's in a different league, providing a perfect amount of light for road riding.
Slightly outside your budget but there was a special deal on a week or so ago, with price reduced to c. £138.
  • I've got one of these (they also do a smaller battery version). It lights up road signs 200 yards away in the daylight and when its on flash cars slow down as they think its a police car coming.
