I'm here, always am, looming in the background like an ice patch waiting for you to ride carelessly for that one second.
Or like the christmas tree promising joy to all.

    Hello chap, hows the back?

Any advise on lens selection today? it's sunny with heavy shadows and lots of ground frost, tough call.

Had my MRI last week; off to see the consultant to get the results this afternoon. Getting better. Still about 60% - shifted and rotated pelvis in the morning and can't bend over the sink + hobbling around a bit. But 60% is a lot better than when I was aspiring for a number in the teens.

Lenses. Tricky. I would be tempted to ride out the shadows and go for Blue Steel (suck those cheeks in boys!).

    Listen Ironsides,

We all know that this whole spurious back pain story is just cover for your benefit scrounging multi million pound council house scam.

I'm not taken in for a second and have in fact grassed you to the Feds. I expect you'll find several long lenses being pointed at you as you go about your limping and carrying on. I fully expect to see you "exposed" in the Mail some time soon.

I might be considerably younger than you Grandpa66 but I still remember who Davros is ya know! I was simply asking what the actual item of equipment was going to be!

Full body brace, calipers on both legs, iron lung? Are youi actually going to look like this next time we see you?

The wheelchair gags were for comic effect (oh, how we laughed at the wheelchairs  ). I can walk. I can even walk a bit better than I was at the Xmas do.

In fact, I'll let my secret out.

I rode home last night and rode in this morning.

When I say "rode", I mean in a very loose sense of the word. Stuck it in the 21 and left it there. I also found out pdq that my normal riding position is causing me a degree of discomfort at Lumbar Ground Zero. To compensate, I have to perch on the nose of the saddle.

That doesn't sound too bad. But what it means is that the back end of my perineum has to cling onto the very front molecules of the nose of the saddle to keep my hips as open as possible and reduce the bend in my lumbar spine. Then I lock out both arms, and if I don't need to brake, rest my fingertips on the handlebars. I suspect I need rolled up jeans and a bike chain around my waist to perfect this so-called "look".

But it sure as hell beats minicabs/blackcabs/trains/cars.

This is a very long winded way of saying the saddle is, in reality, up your 4rse.

Unrelated but so you all know

The wolves are closing in and the reviewed deadlines are looming, loomed and gone. People at work have begun to ask questions about where my work is. So I now actually have to do my job, which means less time for bike radar.

But what people (at work) don't realise is that I'm:

    (i) More talented/skilled than the job demands

(ii) Mastered the art of batting things back to those that gave me the task in the first place (its a bureaucratic thing)

After today a weeks work will have been done (hopefully) leaving me the rest of the week to go 'balls out' and go post crazy on this site.
