(I was thinking more about the second clause than the first)
I know, I know.... I couldn't resist.
I saw her a couple of months ago at a bar in the Aldwych. First, she takes good care of herself. Second, even watching her carefully while she walks, you wouldn't suspect (and boy, would that be a surprise if you weren't ready for it). And third, I probably would. Provided I didn't have to talk to her. At all.
German is great for various things, sinister-sounding lyrics being one of them...
they lost their way with the last two albums
Including Mutter or not? I liked Mutter... Reise Resis and Rosenrot nt so great though.
And yes, hier kommt die Sonne...
their live aus berlin dvd is stunning
Rosenrot and ReiseX2 are indeed the latest two. Mutter is great Links 234 the the track for me on that. I discovered then in a club back in the day (Jilly's in Manchester I think it was) Du Hast... great tune that. off Sehnsucht if you don't already have it... get it
nearly all these songs have been covered by a punk band called Snuff
any one know them?
I used to have several Snuff singles and albums - guess I must have lent them to friends as they don't appear to be at my parents house any more (where most of my vinyl resides) let alone in my own collection. Shame.
CP, are you a fan of other bands of the Snuff era? Senseless Things, Mega City Four etc? If so I may have to buttonhole you tonight and relive the good old days...
Ahhh. Snuff. Their cover of Jonny Nash's 'I can see clearly now' is one of my favourite songs ever...
You know Wendy James had nothing to do with the Primitives, right? That was Tracy Tracy. You're thinking of Transvision Vamp. Who weren't much cop apart from a couple of singles. The Primitives debut album, though, I still listen to regularly, on vinyl of all things.
How did this get to 17 pages in a day? Do I need to read back? Can someone summarise in one post what's happened? Or tell me which pages to go to to get the highlights? I know have some time on my hands until the caffeine wears off, but still...
It's 17 pages of a quite silly thread, which seems to involve people admitting to liking songs that they think are a bit censored . Weirdly enough, despite the length it appears to be entirely on topic.
Kinda goes off the rails a bit with people suggesting records that are actually considered good by other people, which rather removes the guilt from the pleasure.
Oh, and I'm not sure if I can justify this as guilty but M83 - Kim & Jessie is giving me a lot of aural pleasure at the moment.
Struggle to explain what the hell is going on in the video, but the tune is all sorts of awesome in a completely Tears for Fears fashion. Brilliant stuff.
I *think* that this was on the compilation 12 inch, "The Heat is On", which started with the song of the same name by Glen Frey (of the Eagles), and featured a cover version of "Stairway to Heaven" by The Far Corporation. Health warning: That cover version is not for the purists. Shocked
I had that compilation too, it was fantastic.
I also remember a "Marquee" compilation that had Matthew and Son by Cat Stevens, class!

I saw them live in the mid 90s, brilliant! At that time they were doing advert covers as well.
"Only the crumbliest flakiest Chocolate" and "Do It Quick" (a mix of "how do Do It All Do it?" and "Can't get better than a quick fit fitter") spring to mind.
Oh and +1 for Rammstein - eins fur dich, eins fur mich....
As for High School Musical, I listened to High School Musical 0, oops I mean Grease, 8 times a week for a whole year, oh hang on, that was my job. It was the most teeth grindingly awful aspect of my job, I still have to leave the room if it comes on the radio now and wedding discos and the like are always ruined by the nagging feeling that the DJ is about to put the bl00dy megamix on,
My GP The Soundtrack to Les Miserables, there I've said it.
Oh and f I ever meet Andrew Lloyd Webber again I will throttle him both for revege and as an act of kindness to the human race

FCN 2-4.
"What happens when the hammer goes down, kids?"
"It stays down, Daddy."
"Exactly."
First a sincere thank you to whoever mentioned Word Up - not a guilty pleasure at all in any of its many covers (well except the Mel B one and surely there was no pleasure to be taken from that!). Currently cycling through the various covers on you tube - on the Gun one as I type but so loud through the head phones that I'm typing one handed while the other one stops the chair from propelling me out of the window
Plus 1 for the mentions of The One and Only, have to confess I also like some of the songs from the self same song writer - Nick Kershaw of Wouldn't it be good fame.
Went to a '70s party last weekend and recalled some horrors that I actually love  thankfully many of you are too young to know...
The Sweet - Ballroom Blitz / Blockbuster
Mud - Tiger Feet
[Circle of trust check, yep, still in tact, OK then here goes]
I like Bros!! Who couldn't love When will I be famous or Chocolate in the box   Just me then
I also once bought an album because I wanted its title in my collection - ended up quite liking some of the tracks. Anyone remember the rathr scary Sparks - the Marh brothers. Well aftet the big hits they had an album called Gratuitous Sax and Senseless Violins

Ah, meant to add - you'd only have a guilty pleasure as a man or woman - and one that would break the circle of trust - if you siad you liked the original Cameo performances with Richard Blackmon's bright red codpiece!!!!
censored , just found a country & western version LoL. Test of a great song that it is even bearable in C&W
I wish to withdraw my nomination of The Sweet. You tube has shown me I have nothing to be guilty about. What a band (of their time) and what a debt the likes of Queen owe them.
However, I believe I have a song that will knock Chesney Hawkes off the top spot - his success (like his music career) was short lived.
I woke up with a choon in my head this morning (yeah thanks guys!) A true guilty pleasure. The choon is catchy, nice but totally uncool then and even now with retro-chic
Going through some old sounds and re -discovered some TALK TALK albums namely the Colour Of Spring & Laughing Stock along with Massive Attack albums, Portishead, David Sylvian, Cameo, Kleeer , Shalamar, Chaka Khan, Fatback Band, Atlantic Star, D Train, Princess, Mansun, Moloko , Placebo, Adam Freeland, White Stripes, Hot Hot Heat , Prince and XTC to name but a few. I would'nt know who was in the charts right now if the entire earth depended on it. 8)

I would have thought that results in an unseemly exercise in poking your fingers into the depths of the mug and licking them lasciviously.
