Tri cross gear cables

Just got a Specialized Tricross and the 2 gear cables that go down under the down to the bottom bracket cross over.

Is correct?
Looks pretty stupid to me, but the shop said they are like that!
I don't believe them unless I'm told different by others.

Its actually a good idea as it keeps the cables away from your paint a bit more. It doesn't change The shifting ability much, if at all, but saves your paint a bit.
This is late, but just saying so lazy don't have to click on the links.
