  • RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!!!! UTTER TOSH!

unless you've watched casino royal and know the storyline exactly, you wont get it.

there doesnt seem to be much of a story and is pretty bloody boring. i wasn't even impressed by the 1st and only car chase as it was a tad random and boring....

    gutted.

I am a MASSIVE Bond fan and i was totally unimpressed by this film.

hey should have put the last 2 minutes of the film set in Russia as the pre-title sequences then started from fresh.

The camera was way too close in all the action sequences and as such they were confusing and very disorientating. There was no pacing to the film as it just jumped from action sequence to action sequence. What the hell was the director doing thinking with the "Horse race" and "Tosca" chase/fight scenes??

To me it seems Forster wanted to make an art house film and NOT a Bond film.

All Forster managed to do IMO was turn Bond into a thug. The scene where he pushes a baddie off the rook (akin TSWLM) made me feel uncomfortable. Bond has not yet earned the right to be that ruthless. He is STILL making mistakes and therefore should NOT be acting in such a way.

The whole character of Camile was a pointless. It added nothing to the film and actually seems to confuse the story even more.

Why did they do that to Mathis? They have wasted the only other character in the film that was actually enjoyable. Even the wonderful Dame Judi was getting on my nerves by appearing every few minutes.

Just wait for the Blu ray release and fast forward to the last chapter then look forward to Bond 23.

Agreed it is a bit dull and like most recent films the plot is utterly incomprehensible. All the elements that make up the classic British Bond have been removed and now it's just another action film.

I found it ok till the end....... hydrogen fuel cells.... sounds dangerous....... FFS
hydrogen and oxygen burn you get a clear color-less flame. not a dirty sooty orange red flame from a petrol burn....... and you would never then pipe the oxygen and hydrogen around the hotel with valves that are acsessable by the general piblic..... not even to mention that the 1 bar over presure in the room to blow out the wall would luquidise bond+ bird in the room b4 removing all the oxygen and killing them of CO...

put me off a bit now! My gaffer went to see it at the weekend, whos a bigger bond fan than me, and he was also disappointed.

Said it was a good film, but definitely not bond-esque. no smoothness to the character, and too thug-ish. more of an all out action film. guess they are tring to outdo the Borne series.

Probably still go see it though

LOL I sympathise and its the sort of thing I notice as an Engineer!!

The movie is an OK action flick but it seems to have lost some of the Bond traits to develop the 'Bond' character. Can only hope they are done with that now so the next one will be back to what is loved about the movies. I do think Daniel Craig is actually a pretty good Bond though.....

i thought Brosnan made a fairly decent Bond. Smooth, swauve etc, but he was blighted by sh!te plots and stupid gizmo's

just went to see it today, thought it was a good film but the action shots were too jumpy, couldn't really see what was going on because of the close cam, a few parts were implausable, happens to parachute into sink hole opens chute at last second and walks off, nice to see it was still gritty like the last one though :)

I'm going to disagree with most of you here, we saw Quantum Of Solace at the weekend and thought it was a good film. Bit of a departure from the previous bond movies, no little quips, but Craig has made the character his own by taking it in a slightly different direction, which is not uncommon since each of the actors have all added bits to the character.
If you havent seen casino royale at all or even recently it may be hard to understand what is going on but the action was good and I didnt notice too much CGI which I think ruins films nowadays! However I agree, I hate the whole jiggly moving camera thing, take a step back camera man and keep it still, I need to see more of the Aston Martin....

Dont go expecting gadgets and funny one liners and you might surprise yourself and actually like it, go thinking Craig is a modern Connery then you will be disappointed (I actually think Craig is a very very, no, a very good Bond, just a little bit different to the others - and whether thats him or the screen writers is not for me to say)!

I'd suggest go and see it and make your own decision....

To me though, part of the bond mystique is the smart ass one liners, the cool gadgets (some later toys were too far though), the guy getting the girl, the bond theme, and associated music. Without all that its just another action film, surely. I will, at some point go see it though.

Action scenes, agree with all of the aforementioned. Think Craig plays a good Bond, it is just such a big marketing tool nowadays. Thankfully, the Chris Moyles advert has moved on - to be replaced by a couple of annoying half-wits from Radio Sixt (!? I dunno...) but then it is the drink, the mobile phone, the videogame...and on and on. No mention from Omega this time though, although it did look a nice watch! Wonder which one it was!?

Cheers mate. I baulk at paying anymore than a G shock nowadays! Interesting article in the Top Gear magazine, primarily about the opening 6 minutes and the problems they had filming it. Road only being 7 metres wide, etc etc. They had 12 DB9's! Some budget, eh?
