Re Shimano road gears.
How how much cable pul (mm) is needed to shift one 9 speed Sprocket?

    I think it varies along the sprocket.

    No, cable pull is constant for each click of the shifter which moves the rear mech a set distance. Unfortunately even the great Sheldon Brown doesn't even have the info - but as far as I can determine indexing spacing is 4.35mm, pull ratio is 2.61 for Shimano 9 speed so cable pull is 1.66mm
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    I have a plan to machine up a pair of 'cool' shifters...

    its all about arcs, etc tto draw it up
