Rusty Chrome

My front fork (chrome, suspension) is prone to rusting up. Living on the coast, I don't see that changing any time soon: I( rub it off and it comes back again. I'm considering a liberal application of hammerite to end this once and for all. Does anyone have any comments or advice on this?

    Ok yep no probs painting those bits.

    you will need to do a good degrease though.

    Keep the paint of the uppers. :wink:

    No paint on the uppers? I'd been thinking of painting it as far down as the rubber sheath...

    Try ACF-50 rubbed in with scotchbrite or similar. TRhey won't be pristine but they will probably clean up to a very good state. Keep a light coating of ACF on them and they won't corrode any more.
