Rockshox Recon All Travel Spacer Adjustment

Hi,
After my recent thread on which forks to get I ended up finding a deal on some recon air jobbies. These forks should be arriving today but the one thing is I am pretty sure they are going to be set up for 80mm travel. I would like to change them to 100mm of travel. I have printed out the manual and how to do it but my question is about the all travel spacer. If I am changing from 80mm to 100mm will I need to buy a different spacer or will all the spacers needed be inside the forks in different positions if that makes sense. Also do i need new oil if I do this change or can i pour out the existing and put it back in when I re-assemble?
Thanks in advance (nick)

If it is an all travel fork the, as it shows in the download, you will need to remove spacers.
but you may have to find a 30mm spacer to replace the 50mm spacer...."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok would a lbs have that or should the fork come with it?http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

it depends on the fork.
if you did not get ant then it is possible it is not an All travel fork."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hi,
So how will I know if it is not an all travel fork?

when you open it up."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I bought a Recon Race last week and that came set up for 100 mm travel with the spacer in a little bag for if you wanted to reduce travel to 80mm.
Yours might be the same if your lucky!0 -
Cool thanks,
Now if it does come with the different spacers and I go to rebuild the fork after changing them will the fork take the same amount of oil or will it need a different volume if travel is different? Not sure how they work.

The Rock Shox service guide for your fork will tell you how much and what weight of oil to use. The amount of travel will make no difference to this, but you will inevitably lose some so I would recommend changing for new.
I found that mine leaked air a little after replacing the seals and replacing with recommended oil, this was cured by using a lillte RSP Ultra Slick grease on the seals. This is not mentioned in the manual, but the guys at TF Tuned put me on to it and it worked.
I would point out that this is not a job for the faint hearted, get it wrong and you will incur a lot of expense or even ruin the fork. At the very least you need decent clean workshop facilities and all the right tools. If you are not sure, leave it until the next service and get it changed then.

Cool, forks fitted.
Before:
(We seem to have a ghost cat in our house too!)
After:
Didnt manage to alter the travel, I stripped the forks down, measured the spacer and it appeared to be the correct one for 100mm travel according to the manual but I must have measured the wrong part because I put them back together and the distance between top of lower leg and crown is only 85mm so can't be set for any more travel. If i changed the spacer would this gap increase?
