How many of you cycling enthusiasts wile away your time at work by spending many an hour on, inter alia, forums such as this?!
My current employers are in the middle of producing a time sheet which will show the serious 'pee pee take internet offenders'. I suspect I am going to be nearing the top of that list!

Ouch. I got rumbled a while back for abusing the email system by emailing mates all the time. Not a nice feeling. Just blag it and say you have it on in the background and have a look in quiet moments. Good luck. I'm sure it won't be as bad as you think because cycling forums aren't generally regarded as being 'offensive material'.0

Oh they're probably just looking for cost-effective ways of downsizing staff that avoids having to pay out redundancy money. Internet abuse during work time could be just the excuse they're looking for.0

Nah but seriously that somewhat sucks. Then again (sorry to be blunt), but you somewhat asked for it surely? Many many companies now that use computer equipment moniter or block internet usage, and there are many many dismissals as a result of people not realising this.

I work for myself from home, so time spent on various cycling sites only costs me money.
I'm amazed at how many of you get away with spending as much time on here and some of the other sites as you obviously do though. There's people posting sometimes 40 plus times a day, but only during office hours!
Even about 10 years ago, the last company I worked for was monitoring internet use and we knew that we had to be careful what we did. Actually, we were only on ISDN then so it wasn't just a case of time-wasting, it was bandwidth-wasting too.
One teenage lad got caught downloading porn and was given a severe talking to by the MD. Unfortunately for said spotty oik, the MD's door was ajar and the conversation was overheard by the women in the office. Every time he walked past the women after that they teased him about it

After all that.... HR sent an email to everyone in the firm warning them about their future internet usage and warning that as of now they will be monitoring the position closely.
I will take heed of the warning and cut my usage down severely..... May get away with a click or two every hour

hahah roadrider... To be fair is it really worth your job? I mean yeah its "bikes" which our worlds revolve around, and we would choose a bike over our job any day.... but with no job, you cant afford that nice looking carbon frame that everyone drools at through the shop window.
Personally if I was you, I would look at that as a sign to stop using internet @ work for non buisness reasons atall. A job is more important than telling people on a bike forum how your day has been.0 -

personally, working in administration yes I have. But we cant get very far anyway because the internet is passworded, and we can only aquire a password by phoning our companies helpdesk up and requesting one.0
