Hi,
I'm looking for a pair of forks and cannot decide which ones to buy.
Having looked at the reviews on mtbr i am tempted towards the 318s or the mx pros as the 302s appear to leak oil, is this true?
Which one is the better fork?

For what sort of riding? How much travel and what bike?0
-
so what brake fitting do you need?
they are all basically the same forks. IE. similar weights and do the same job.
if a tora is leaking it is a warrenty fix. there have been a few that have needed to be sorted. but that was through the RS range.
Any brake mounting is more important if you can not change the mounting."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Mostly XC riding
I am running a specialized hardrock with hayes sole
I would like between 100m - 120m travel0 -
so is the Sole IS or POST MOUNT?
what bike/fork?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hayes Sole with IS or post mounts, and what forks?
I'd get the Tora 318 air anyway. Has the better motion control damper, and lighter than the MX (and stiffer). This fork is IS mount, so you will need an adaptor if your brakes are post mount, or will bolt straight on with shims if 160mm IS.0 -
Fork is standard, thats why i'm really looking to change them - RST Gila T7
I think they are IS0 -
then if you dont want to go to a bigger disc and adaptor you will be getting an RS fork.
Marz is post mount."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Look at the recons as well if want to save a little weight, or the newer Tora XC series.0

ok so you think i should go for 318s?0

318 if wanting to ride harder, Tora Race or SL if want to stick to 100mm of travel and more XC based.
This frame is designed for 100mm of travel, and is an XC bike really. Tora race saves even more weight but still has the motion Conrtrol damper.
RS recon saves more still, but costs more.0 -
Cheers for the advice
I'm probs going for Toras then, however a mate of mine had a bit of trouble with air forks - they wern't holding air, he sent them off to be repaired 4 times but still the same problem still occured. Although they were Marzocchi XC500s i'm just wondering wheather RS have the same problem.0 -
Not usually - RS forks tend to be very reliable"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0
