and you Poms are now so good at cycling. (But not for long, us Aussies will hunt this one down too) We heard all about the swimmers diets and training. Would you care to share what some of your winning cyclists eat in a day and train? :)
I used to play Hockey but now I ride.... one day like the wind :)

Since this is to help our cousins on the continent I think it would be good to share. It is a very well kept secret, but for you we can share. They do a minimum of 14hrs a day at L1 with 1 rest day per month and a high fat diet of at least 4000 cals a day.

... but we don't care that much. Our other national sports of football and rugby have kept us in bragging rights for years.

only crap if you expect them to win everything. on the world stage England are still a football powerhouse.

There must be two England football teams then - not just the one that miserably failed to qualify for Euro 2008 and performed dismally at the last 5 tournaments before that.

They haven't made a semi since 96, seven tournaments ago. But i concede that three quarter finals in a row isn't dismal however i don't think it qulaifies England as being a 'powerhouse' compared to the achievements of Italy, Germany, France & Brazil over the same period

its all relative I suppose. If you want to concentrate on the 4 or 5 countries that have dominated international football or look across say the 190 national teams that compete to take part in the world cup, and then the 32 countries that actually qualify for the finals.

  • Fair enough, in those terms England is certainly a major football nation
