Hi folks,
i'm looking at spending what evers required to get a really good set of lights so i can get up the forests at night in the winter and so i can train on my road bike at night, Can anyone recommend a really good set of lights for say £200? the cheaper the better tho.

Have a look at the airbike lights from on one - maybe with a fenix l2d q5 with lockblock mount for your helmet to go with it.0

i bought a fenix and it seems to last no time before the batterys are flat and the light it produces doesnt seem that great.0

What batteries are you using?0

My suggestion would be to check out Ay Up's...
£149 gets you the Roadie kit with 1 x twin high power LED + 6 hour battery life
£249 gets you the MTb kit, with 2 x twin high power LED + 6 hr + 2 x 3hr batteries
The kits come with loads bits and pieces, are super light, and available in 2 different beam types.
Google Ay Up lights for more info (there is a UK site, delivery was stupidly quick, like ordered 11am, received next morning).

i went the ay-up route last week. around 3 other guys I ride with have done this as well. its a solid bundle, the MTB kit. looks the biz, the light is certainly all I will need, they weigh next to nothing and the burn times are spot on. took em out tonight for first time "in anger", and i'm impressed.
bring on the winter and those dark nights - i dont care!
ordered on thu, arrived on Friday.0 -
yeah they seem pretty good, would the mtb kit be too bright for use on road? some kit? looks like something a surgeon would use lol.0
-
for brightness, do you really care if it is too bright?
It's not like you're going to outshine car headlamps that much0 -

+1 for the Ay Ups, just ordered mine and I'm expecting them tomorrow. I bought the MTB kit with both the helmet and bar lights and an extra handlebar mount for my winter road bike...can't wait to try them out.'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0

Wouldnt know of a uk site would you?0 -
Here you go:
http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/id40947.html
NiteFlux lights
Perfect for your needs, a 4W LED and a 15W Halogen, top quality all metal lamps and Li Ion battery packs, the head units can even screw on top of the battery packs and be used as torches
Use the 4W on your bars of your road bike you can switch it to flashing on lit streets and use the full beam setting on dark roads.
For off road you can mount the 15W halogen to your bars and the LED to your helmet, if there is a better light set for £100 I've yet to see it.
But hurry up J E James only have one set left. CRC are selling it for £180  ouch!0 -

Been to Tescos tonight, the 4W torch would be a bit bulky for the bars, the 3W C battery ones seem fine (got 2). They also do a 3W AA battery one as well but only seems to be instore, just as bright as the C battery ones, much smaller (bought one for helmet use).
See the Tesco 3W cree thread in the General section.

Its actually the torches they are getting. Its the two, 3W LED & 4W LED, at the top of the page that are being talked aboutReturning to MTB'ing after 13 year break: Merida Matts Sub 60d
