When i got home from work today, i was rather shocked to see that two of the screws that attach the cleat to the three hole shoe adapter had disappeared!

I didn't notice anything was amiss on the ride home, it was only when i took my shoes off that i noticed that the right cleat was waggling!

Does anyone know if you can get the replacement screws?

I'm just hoping that i don't have to buy replacement cleats forthe sake of a couple of screws!

I saw this coming and bought some Loctite 243 Threadlocker. I got it online from The Bearing Shop UK.

When the screws are new they have blue Loctite on them so that you don't have to worry about not over tightening them. But this wears off if you keep, like me, adjusting the cleat position.

I'm not sure if this will work and if it does I just hope I will be able to loosen the screws when I need to. I would also contact Speedplay, I am sure they will send you new screws.
  • All sorted now :D

I emailed Jim Walker (the UK distributer for Speedplay) and was sent the following link of shops that stock spares: -

Just been up to Pedal Revolution in Norwich and got four for a pound.

Just out of interest have they got the blue Loctite on them?

You got a bargain. My LBS sells them for 60p each or £7.00 the compete set of 16.
  • you can get the same sort of screws just with a hexi-key screw top on ebay. Think they are used by specialist model makers.

i buy a bag of twenty for 3 quid

I always keep a few spares because i find even with the blue loctite on they still spring off occasionally.

they are called M3x12MM countersunk screws on ebay

enter the following number into the ebay search and you'll find them 320302408740

you'll still need the blue loctite from halfords though.

worth mentioning that the speedplay instructions say they are M4X11mm, but in actual fact, 12mm bolts work fine.

Is that just a conversion error from imperial to metric?

This is complete bollox. I have just received them and they are too thin. Luckily only £3.00 down the drain.
  • Just find your nearest fasteners shop. I got a bunch in stainless steel cheaper than that... from memory they're just standard M5 screws with a countersunk head.
  • they've always worked perfectly fine for me, i ordered from the same seller two weeks ago and have used them no problem.

Maybe a different batch, sorry about the bad advice

Are you sure they are not M4? They are changing them for me to M4
  • I've ordered the M3 in the past and they've worked fine.

Again sorry for the bad advice and causing you the run around
