Sean Yates was one of the pundits ( the other was Magnus Backstedt)i n the Eurosport studio before the Men's RR. He looked awful - and it was awful to see. Has he had a heart problem? I really do wish him well.

Yes, I saw him on the show. He is certainly starting to show his age but I didn't think he looked too bad.

He was diagnosed with heart problems in May 07:

I should have been in Romandie last week but I have had another health scare-warning which meant I have been spending time in hospital and seeing specialists etc. The verdict. My heart is worn out and I need to take things a lot easier than I have been up until now unless I want to jeopardise my long term health. It was my third warning, and this time I think I should sit up and take note.

So, what does that mean? It means no biking for two months, go for another check up and if things have settled down I will be able to partake in gentle riding, nothing above 30mph. [] So that means come Aug-Sept I should be doing my day rides again.

The early morning pre race coverage - I honestly thought he was drunk.

He always sounds a bit incoherent and mumbling. Nice guy though.

I think he'd look a lot better if he got the make up department to do something with his hair. He always looks to me as though he's cycled in (not beyond the realms of possibility of course) and jumped staright off the bike into the studio, sweaty head and all.
    Take care,

    Steve.

Yeah it's just his look - he isn't ill or drunk that's just how he looks. Not sure that Eurosport will run to a make up department.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
  • Im more interested in what he has to say rather than how he looks. :D
he is another who has a tee shirt
