Any recommendations for hotels or B&Bs for a night out in Brighton

Preferably:

1) only 1 night bookings accepted at weekends
2) sensible prices

    Sensible prices, you'll be lucky!
There are some nice ones, but if you want to be in the centre of town they aren't cheap.
Do a web search, post some names, and I'll let you know if they're any good (if I've heard of them).
For a start, the Old Ship is generally well-regarded, I think. Right on the sea front. Thistle looks nice, but pricey, as are the Metropole and Hilton, of course (they're also not that great, considering their price and ratings).
If you're more in the B and B price range, there are a lot on Brunswick Square, but quality is variable, and I can't remember all the names. If you post names I'll ask my contacts...!

  • Try the Cecil House Hotel on the seafront. Friends have used it a few times and say it's not too bad and reasonably cheap. Not like one of the major chains. You are coming to the end of the season, such as it was, so there'll be deals to be had.
    Start Weight: 128 kilos (20.2 st) (April 17th 2009)
    Current Weight:119 kilos (18.7 st) (June 18th 2009)
Target Weight: 92 kilos (14.5 st) (sometime mid-2010, hopefully sooner)

The Granville on the front. A nice friendly place with some interesting themed rooms and a good breakfast :)

My company uses it when we are working on conferences in the Grand or the Metropole.

I have stayed in the thistle but it was very expensive (130 per night)
Last time (a few weeks ago) I stayed at the Imperial Hotel, the single room is way too small but the double was perfect, cost was 80 inc breakfast. Its a one minute walk from the front.

Agreed - great cocktail bar too!
  • If it's a night out, do you need anything more than a bed?

Why not a travel lodge, if you book in advance you can get the rooms for £17.

I;ve done this a few times for nights out in London, the rooms are clean and a decent size. What more do you need?

If you book in advance it's fine. Friends of mine have done it.

Though, looking at the travel lodge website, the offer is now £19.

Maybe it's changed recently, but IME it's been ok.

I've never been able to book a travellodge in Brighton- always say no rooms available
